Berlin ist Kultur: Prevent cultural budget cuts!

As part of HAU Hebbel am Ufer, we have also joined the #BerlinIstKultur action alliance. This alliance summarizes the protests against the impending cuts to Berlin's cultural budget of 130 million euros. With only 2.1%, the culture department already contributes little to the overall budget, but will now be disproportionately burdened with a 13% cut.

“The cuts will permanently destroy the cultural infrastructure and lead to drastic program cuts, redundancies and closures. Diversity, excellence, resilience and social cohesion are at stake.” (translated excerpt from the #BerlinIstKultur press release from 19.11.2024)

More about the action alliance and ways to support it (in German Language).

This was Tanz im August 2024

At this year's festival 18 productions were shown at 10 venues 3 world premieres, 10 German premieres, and 7 Berlin and international co-productions with a total of 46 performances.

With ticket sales at 97% and 18.500 visitors, the festival was able to build on the successes of previous years – with much positive resonance from its very wide and diverse audience.

Tanz im August was visited by 600 professionals from the national and international dance scene. 95 regional, national, and international journalists were accredited this year.

We would like to thank all participating artists and their teams, our sponsors and supporters, partner venues, cooperation- and media partners and, last but not least, our audience for this unforgettable festival!
