18th International Festival Berlin
17.8. – 2.9.2006
2006 marks the eighteenth year of TANZ IM AUGUST. How do you celebrate a festival’s „coming of age“? Is there an interest within the contemporary dance scene in reflecting on the history and tradition of the field? A frame for this year’s festival is provided by two choreographers who have chosen to explore their creative roots and re-examine their development as artists by taking a new look at work from their past: Michèle Anne De Mey with SINFONIA EROICA, and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker with MOZART / CONCERT ARIAS. Join us on a journey to the beginnings of these two outstanding Belgian choreographers.
As usual, TANZ IM AUGUST also creates a forum for discussing issues and topics relevant to the contemporary dance scene. We offer talks, labs, workshops, interventions, and a new sommer.bar, where you can eat, relax and enjoy live events with some of the festival artists.
And of course, TANZ IM AUGUST has again invited some of the most exciting contemporary dance artists from Europe as well as Africa, North-America and Asia to present their new works in Berlin. We look forward to welcoming them along with you – our audience!
