27th International Festival Berlin
13.8. – 4.9.2015
We are proud to present the programme of the 27th edition of Tanz im August, Berlin’s not-to-be-missed summer date with contemporary dance, produced by HAU Hebbel am Ufer. It is inspired by current discussions around the connections between the visual arts and dance and by the growing dance culture of Asia. We have invited artists who tackle complex subject matters, experiment with form and inspire the cultural conversation in society. The festival takes off with an exhibition on stage, with a performance in a gallery, a 24-hour event and an architectural structure in a theatre space. The field of dance allows a constant evolvement that escapes preconceptions and conventions.
Tanz im August is not a ‘thematic’ festival, but nevertheless raises plenty of issues. The works of art do speak for themselves, and it is my conviction that through art complicated realities begin to unravel and the unknown begins to take shape and find its articulation. Art and especially dance allows us to see the world with the eyes of another, and feel, see and experience something yet not named.
