28th International Festival Berlin
12.8. – 4.9.2016
Every summer Tanz im August electrifies audiences in Berlin with contemporary dance. Presenting 24 international and local artists, this year‘s festival celebrates strong artistic voices. On stage, some of the recurring themes are intimacy and notions of the collective, as well as experiences of inclusion and exclusion. Many of this year‘s artists challenge xenophobia, racism, sexism or homophobia in all of its forms as it is embedded in Western culture and its institutions. These topics will also be explored in a variety of discussion formats held in the brand-new “Bibliothek im August”.
Tanz im August is proud to present world premiers and German premiers for everyone to discover the latest developments in the dance world. The programme also includes contemporary classics that no one should miss, as well as shows accessible to younger audiences.
This year‘s programme resonates with the world as we experience it: deeply fractured and fragmented. That is why we would like to invite everyone to join us in creating a common space for critical reflection and pure joy!
