Weekend Preview 15.-19.8.

 

After the opening weekend Tanz im August continues rich in diversity: For the world premiere INSIDE OUT Isabelle Schad brings a sensitive new work to the gallery spaces of KINDL - Centre for Contemporary Art from 16. to 19.8. In portrait of myself as my father choreographer Nora Chipaumire examines concepts of black masculinity at Sophiensæle from 15. to 17.8. The renowned British choreographer Wanye McGregor and his company perform for the first time in Berlin from 17. to 19.8. with the piece Autobiography at Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Belgian group Voetvolk / Lisbeth Gruwez return to HAU2 with the new work The Sea Within from 17. to 19.8. In Oh Louis... choreographer Robyn Orlin attempts a surprising new look on the sun king Louis XIV on 18. and 19.8. at HAU1. In her lecture performance Art and Love  Maija Hirvanen looks at love beyond all clichés from 16. to 18.8. at HAU3. Des Weiteren bereichern diverse Publikumsformate das Festivalwochenende.

Apart from numerous Meet the Artist and the Awareness Boost before Art and Love, the festival weekend will be accompanied by the project "Scribe", which will be gathering personal experiences and memories of the festival visitors. In the context of the #meetoo debate, the open forum "Whistle While You Work" will be hosted on the 18.8. at Bibliothek im August. The story behind "Whistle While You Work" is further elaborated in an interview with the initiators and can be read in our magazine.
