Claire Vivianne Sobottke

Claire Vivianne Sobottke’s new solo unfolds in a miniature garden, and explores solitude and sexuality. In “Velvet” the Berlin-based choreographer creates a series of portraits that operate in these worlds and challenge norms of seeing and thinking. They seek the poetic and irrational, so as to both construct and deconstruct categorisations, embodiments and identities – such as the concept of the female. The fluctuation of ideas gives rise to an iridescent, disconcerting subject that is always changing and impossible to categorise.
